Music

The primary music program at The Gardner School is full of exploration and creativity. It embodies the philosophy and processes of Orff Schulwerk, an interrelated music, movement and speech concept created by Carl Orff. The Orff Schulwerk experience is based on the ways in which children naturally communicate. Using their voices to speak and sing and their bodies to move and dance, children joyfully move from musical imitation to improvisation and literacy. Through inquiry, innovation and active participation, the children experience the joy and creativity of making music together.

The middle years music program is focused mainly on creativity, composition and performance. Creating a link between the multitude of different art forms, our aim is to instill a thirst for knowledge in all areas of music study and performance, and to develop the drive for personal accomplishment.
