Movie Making Workshop (1 & 2)
Open to children ages 8-14
Dates: (Week 1) June 23-27, 2008
(Week 2) June 30 - July 3 (no camp on Friday, July 4)
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)

Do you love watching movies and wondered how they are made? Are you the next Martin Scorsese or Francis Ford Coppola? Then join us for a two week journey into the art of filmmaking.

First Week: An overview of animation, documentary, and narrative film styles and techniques. Learn the different ways that filmmakers communicate with audiences through the medium of motion pictures. We will watch many examples, and learn about how movies are made from idea to final cut. Well learn to write, storyboard, shoot, and edit movies using digital video equipment.

Second Week: Work in small groups to create real movies. We will put our knowledge and experience to work as a team to create short films.

Mythical Creatures
Open to children ages 8-12
Dates: June 23-27, 2008
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)

Gryphons, dragons, unicorns, chimeras - Oh my! In "Mythical Creatures," kids will explore the lore and legends of some famous fabulous beasts, as well as some not-so-well known creatures. Camp activities will include games, crafts, dramatic play and story telling.

Camp Americana
Open to children ages 5-9
Dates: June 30- July 3, 2008 (no camp on Friday, July 4th)
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)

This is your opportunity to experience Americana at its very best. Begin in the founding colonies, work your way westward, claim a homestead, and then seek your fortune during the gold rush. Activities will include songs, stories, art projects, hands-on discovery and cooking.

Preschool Camp for Three-Year-Olds*
Open to children age 3 (* Children Must be Potty Trained)
Dates: July 7-11, 2008
Times: Session #1: 8:00 AM - 11:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)
Session #2: 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)

Our campus is a rich and nurturing setting where your 3-year-old will get acquainted with group activities and new friends. One of our own preschool teachers will bring sensitivity and creativity to this early childhood program as she introduces the young children to the marvels of The Gardner School. Sports Camp
Open to children ages 6+
Dates: July 7- July 11, 2008

Join us for a fun-filled week of athletic activities! Campers will learn skills that they execute in play. It will be an exciting week of games, skill building, athletic challenges and competitions.

Preschool Camp*

Your preschooler will explore his/her multiple intelligences and make new friends through many hands-on, age-appropriate activities. These camps are designed and taught by one of The Gardner School preschool teachers.

Outdoor Explorations
Open to children ages 6+
Dates: July 14-18, 2008
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)

"Wander and Wonder: a Summer Quest." Let's take a whole week to explore our local environment, make discoveries, reflect, write and sketch. We'll meet in the mornings with a backpack, lunch, water, rain gear and notebook. The group will head out on foot and explore The Gardner School campus grounds and surrounding areas. At the end of each day we will reflect and discuss what we observed and even share samples of our nature writing and sketches.

Creative Color Workshop
Open to children ages 6+
Dates: July 21-25, 2008
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)
Teacher: Jane Rhomberg

Join us for a week of exploring art using color as the inspiration! Children will participate in painting a color wheel and creating colorful collages. They will tie dye a T-Shirt and create their own special canvas by imitating master painters. They will also learn the science behind the spectrum of colors.

Music Makers
Open to children ages 7+
Dates: July 28- August 1, 2008
Times: 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM (aftercare till 6 PM available for an additional cost)
Teacher: Dana Harris

A world of music awaits your child as we explore the musical culture of different countries, such as Latin America, Africa, Asia and more! If your child loves to tap their foot and play with sounds, then join us as we learn traditional songs and dances, discover instrument families and even make and play instruments! As their passports get filled with exotic destinations, your child will gain a new understanding of their global community.
