Klickitat (5th/6th grade) and Loowit (1st/2nd grade) headed up to Mt. St. Helens this week. The weather wasn’t great but the trip was! The Johnston Ridge Observatory provides a wonderful learning experience for students and allowed both classes to develop a deeperĀ understandingĀ of this impressive volcano that you can see from campus – when it is not raining. Spending time in nature and working with the rangers form the Mt. St. Helens institute fit perfectly into the current thematic studies – Mt. St Helens itself for Loowit and the Columbia River Gorge for Klickitat.
