All In | Teacher Greg

Meet the teacher who's also a parent, volunteer, and Gardner's biggest cheerleader

If you've dropped a child off at Gardner School, chances are you've been greeted with a high five from Teacher Greg.

Greg Glascock — known simply as "Teacher Greg" both at school and around the dinner tables of Gardner families — wears many hats. He's the PE and health teacher. He leads Community Meeting. He's often the first smiling face students see each morning.

But Teacher Greg is also a Gardner parent, with two children of his own enrolled in Loowit and Wy'East. And along with his wife Melissa, he's one of the school's most generous supporters — giving time, energy, and resources in every way imaginable.

When asked why, his answer is simple: "In our family, we're going to do something all the way or not at all. We're all in."

Why Gardner Matters

For the Glascock family, choosing Gardner was about finding a place that matched their values around education and child development.

"We believe that our kids' foundation is in education, in feeling loved and grounded and feeling nurtured, and in having creative opportunity and diverse skill sets," Greg explains. "These are offered and modeled every day at Gardner."

But it was the human element that truly set Gardner apart.

"The openness of humans who support other humans — and little humans! — in being their best selves is something we didn't recognize in other places," he reflects.

The Village Effect

One phrase comes up again and again when Greg talks about Gardner: the village.

"At Gardner, it really is the village," he says. "People are connected on purpose, and those connections go deeper in this community because everyone is taking care of everyone."

This isn't hollow community-speak. For Greg, it's lived experience — both as a teacher shaping young minds and as a parent watching his own children flourish.

"Parents want to connect with other parents," he notes, "and that means only good things for our kids."

Fine-Tuning Growth

As an educator, Greg appreciates how Gardner's small, intentional environment allows teachers to truly know each student.

"At Gardner, instead of just planting a flower into a random pot and hoping for the best, you see what the plant is doing and what it needs and then adapt and change the soil based on the necessary micro-nutrients," he explains.

"You can fine-tune those micro-nutrients. You can fine-tune their experiences to really maximize their growth."

Why Give Back?

Given everything Greg already contributes as a teacher, parent, and volunteer, why also prioritize financial giving?

"When we can support the teachers, because they will be the ones returning it to our kids, we're all in," he says. "When we see that we can participate and help and connect with other families, we're all in."

For Greg, it comes down to something beautifully simple.

"We can't control everything for our kids," he acknowledges. "But if we can control a piece of this crazy world and keep it good for families, that changes their world for the better."

He pauses, then adds: "Everyone needs a place to thrive."
