Extended Care
The Gardner School Extended Care program provides an opportunity for children to further explore their own interests, as well as to participate in group experiences with others of various ages. Students and the instructor engage in a variety of hands-on activities, outdoor experiences, and play.
Care is available on a drop-in basis. You can use it every day, or just once in a while!
Before school care is available for students each school day from 7:30 A.M. – 8:15 A.M. Children are not to be in their classrooms prior to 8:15 A.M.
After school care is available to all students until 6:00 P.M. There is no After Care on the day before Winter Break, or on the last day of the school year.
Drop-in extended care is $11.00 / hour for the 2025-2026 school year. Using our digital sign in/sign out process, care will be billed to the minute. The Business Office will bill parents monthly for Extended Care use by the 15th of the following month.
*Notes for the 2025-2026 school year:
Early Childhood
Extended Care for our Early Childhood students is based in Mazama, and requires parents to sign children in and out.
Parents of Early Childhood students should let their teachers know if they will need After Care on a given day, or on a regular basis. We have a ratio that must be maintained of students to adults, and need to plan coverage if we have extra children.
K-6
Extended Care for our K-6 students will primarily be in the Great Room and outside. After Care may occasionally be held in Art or Music depending on weather and other activities happening on campus.
Parents do not have to sign children in for Before Care. For After Care, parents must either sign out via the FACTS kiosk tablet, or make sure the After Care teacher knows when you are picking up your child. ID may be requested at any time.
Parents of K-6 students do not need to notify the school if they wish to utilize After Care, but you are always welcome to call and let us know. We are happy to pass the message on to children who might not know they are staying late!
Extracurricular Activities
We are offering extracurricular activities for our K-6 students on a rotating basis throughout the year.
These are charged at a different rate than our After Care. Soccer and chess are through third party vendors who set their own rates. D&D is run by a team consisting of a Gardner teacher, a parent/FROGS member, and an admin.
See FACTS Family Portal, emails home, and flyers in our back to school packets for more information about dates, times, and fees.
Fall: (K-2) Soccer on Tuesdays, (K-6) Chess on Wednesdays, and (1-6) D&D/Storytelling on Thursdays.
Winter and Spring: TBD
Students are under the jurisdiction of the School’s Extended Care Program until they are signed out by their parents or to a parent-approved enrichment activity, even if the parents are on campus for other purposes. Gardner reserves the right to deny extended care for repeated late pickups or payments, or failure to abide by other extended care guidelines specified in the Community Handbook
