Melissa Chapman

Pahto (Grade 1) Substitute Teacher

Melissa Chapman is joining the Gardner School with a rich background in curriculum, community education, and classroom experience. She strongly believes that learning is most powerful when students feel safe, valued, and understood. That is why she prioritizes social-emotional learning in her classroom. She strives to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and expressing themselves. Her goal as an educator is not only to help students succeed academically but also to nurture their character, curiosity, and love of learning.

Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time outdoors and staying active. Whether it's hiking, exploring new places, being by the water, or simply enjoying the fresh air with family, she values experiences that help her recharge and stay balanced. She also enjoys reading, learning new things, and finding creative inspiration that she can bring back to the classroom.

Melissa recently moved here from Arizona and is happy to be in Vancouver. She has two daughters, and the newest addition to the family is her grandson.

She is excited about learning all about Gardner and getting to know all of the families and students!
