Owen Corser
Pahto Teacher (Grade 1)
Owen Corser has worked for much of his life across multiple educational roles. He most recently spent two years in the Arbor residency program, acquiring his MAT in Elementary Education while co-teaching a mixed-grade K-1 classroom. In the past, he has also worked as a camp counselor, algebra teacher, Americorps member, and more. Whatever the position, Owen is committed to giving students the skills and time they need to make sense of the world and affect meaningful change. He believes that building lasting knowledge is best tackled thematically when answering big questions, such as "Where does the food we eat come from?" or "What makes a story meaningful to you?".
Owen grew up in Portland, biking to school come rain or shine. He currently lives in North Portland with a large dog and a cat (Gareth and Gus), who are learning to be best friends. Outside of work, Owen enjoys puzzles, games, the outdoors, and making (then eating) baked goods. He is excited to be part of the Gardner community!
