Rooted in History
Welcome to a celebration of the natural beauty and history of our local landscape, inspired by the historic trees found throughout Vancouver and the surrounding communities. Observing the unique forms, colors, and structures of specific local trees, each student created a representation of a real tree from our region. Soft pastel was used to build the background and establish color, while decoupage techniques allowed students to layer wood-toned paper to form trunks and branches. Textured paper was added to create vibrant skies and warm sunshine, bringing the collaborative landscape to life.
To connect the artwork with the real landscape, locations of the historic trees of Battle Ground accompany this piece.
